Angel kieszkow: The mysterious Polish Postcard Artist of 1900

Angel Kieszkow is a mystery. As far as public knowledge is concerned, we only know that he was a Polish artist working in the Art Nouveau style, and that is it. Neither when he was born nor when he died, nor where he lived or what he did, has been recorded. The only evidence of his existence are the very few stunningly beautiful postcards he signed with his name.

There is one set of five showing angels playing different musical instruments, one set of five showing women representing the different senses, at least four cards simulating stained glass windows depicting women with pairs of animals (cockerels, fish, storks, and lizards), and at least three Christmas cards, which gives us a total of less than 20 postcards. But what cards they are! It is perhaps noteworthy that they all seem to have been published in the same year, in 1900. It is as if Angel Kieszkow burst onto the postcard scene and immediately disappeared from it again. Why would that be? Perhaps he was very young and died before he could do any more. That would explain why there are no records of his life or at least none that have been found yet.
